Executive Director for Facilities Operations

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the First Assistant Deputy Commissioner to establish goals and policies for support services
• Formulate and implement policies, procedures, and new operating instructions
• Oversee collaborative efforts between Building Management and Property Management divisions
• Monitor projects, maintain timelines, and track assignments across Facilities Operations
• Propose strategies to improve internal procedure efficiency and alignment with agency goals
• Manage the Division of Property Management and coordinate furniture and equipment procurement
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and mayoral directives across 70+ leased and city-owned locations
• Act on behalf of the First Assistant Deputy Commissioner when necessary

Requirements

• Eight years of experience in construction, repair, or rehabilitation of commercial, industrial, or public buildings
• At least 18 months of experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity managing a large number of buildings
• Experience as a general contractor, construction superintendent, procurement specialist, or field supervisor
• Ability to pass the Civil Service exam if hired provisionally

Preferred Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, or engineering technology (can be used to substitute up to four years of experience)
