Executive Director, Design

Responsibilities

• Define and champion a unified design vision for Discovery across Disney+ and Hulu that respects individual brand identities.
• Lead the design of large-scale Search, Browse, and navigation systems, including content taxonomy and information architecture.
• Drive the design strategy for next-generation AI-powered discovery, including voice interfaces and conversational browsing.
• Partner with Personalization and Data Science teams to translate algorithmic recommendations into intuitive UX.
• Oversee design consistency and quality across TV, mobile, web, and emerging device surfaces.
• Recruit, develop, and retain a best-in-class Product Design team specialized in streaming and AI prototyping.
• Serve as a design executive partner to Product Management, Engineering, and Machine Learning teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 12 years of related work experience.
• Proven experience leading Discovery and Browse design for major streaming or entertainment platforms.
• Expert-level background in Search and Browse architecture, including metadata-driven UX.
• Direct experience leading design for AI-powered features, such as conversational UI or natural language search.
• Demonstrated track record of executive design leadership and influencing at the VP level.
• Exceptional design sensibility with a focus on simplicity and clarity in complex systems.
