Executive Director, Business & Employee Communications

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute integrated business and employee communications strategies that align with enterprise priorities and business objectives.
• Provide strategic communications counsel to senior business leaders, including executive positioning, leadership messaging, and storytelling.
• Lead enterprise-wide employee engagement and culture initiatives to strengthen connection to Gilead’s mission, values, and strategy.
• Utilize employee insights, engagement data, and channel analytics to inform communication strategies and provide counsel on employee sentiment.
• Oversee internal communication channels, editorial planning, and content strategy to ensure timely and engaging employee communications.
• Manage and develop a high-performing team of communications professionals, fostering leadership capability and succession planning.
• Partner cross-functionally with Human Resources, Legal, and Public Affairs to ensure coordinated messaging and aligned execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and 14 years of relevant experience, OR Master's Degree and 12 years of experience, OR PhD and 12 years of experience.
• Extensive global communications leadership experience.
• Deep expertise in internal, executive, and functional communications.
• Proven experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or a highly regulated industry.
• Demonstrated ability to advise senior executives and lead through complex organizational change.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in corporate communications, public affairs, or a related field.
• Experience leading communications within a publicly traded healthcare or life sciences company.
• Strong understanding of digital channels, social media, and modern employee engagement platforms.
• Ability to translate complex scientific, operational, and business topics into compelling narratives.
