About the role
Responsibilities
- Receive, dispense, and maintain accountability for narcotics, firearms, cash, ballistics evidence, and vehicles
- Transport property and vehicles between OCME commands for processing and storage
- Provide physical security for evidence and property storage areas
- Monitor alarm systems, recording systems, and security cameras
- Verify authorization for persons entering or leaving premises
- Conduct inventory and maintain chain of custody documentation
- Prepare visitor logs, incident reports, and computerized evidence logs
- Package, label, and vouchered evidence and property
- Inspect vehicles and examine identification numbers
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience in security, law enforcement, or active military duty OR 60 college semester credits with a 2.0 GPA
- Valid New York State Motor Vehicle Driver License
- Ability to meet Special Patrolman status requirements
- Ability to provide a DNA sample via swabbing
