About the role

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and execute a variety of departmental events ranging from small lectures to large-scale symposiums and conferences
  • Conceptualize event frameworks in collaboration with faculty, staff, and partners
  • Develop event plans, manage arrangements, and oversee all preparation and execution
  • Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to develop communication plans and marketing materials to increase engagement
  • Manage venue options, negotiate catering contracts, and control event budgets and revenues
  • Oversee virtual and hybrid events, including registration, speaker coordination, and post-event reporting
  • Partner with the Department Head to develop strategic direction for alumni engagement and events
  • Facilitate participation for senior-level academic speakers and faculty recruitment events

Requirements

  • Two-year diploma in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Tourism, or Event Management
  • Minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Docs
  • Knowledge of MS Teams and various video conferencing platforms
  • Commitment to enhancing awareness and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
  • Experience in budget development, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Thorough knowledge of the University environment, policies, and protocols
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and sound judgment in a professional setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
