About the role
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and execute a variety of departmental events ranging from small lectures to large-scale symposiums and conferences
- Conceptualize event frameworks in collaboration with faculty, staff, and partners
- Develop event plans, manage arrangements, and oversee all preparation and execution
- Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to develop communication plans and marketing materials to increase engagement
- Manage venue options, negotiate catering contracts, and control event budgets and revenues
- Oversee virtual and hybrid events, including registration, speaker coordination, and post-event reporting
- Partner with the Department Head to develop strategic direction for alumni engagement and events
- Facilitate participation for senior-level academic speakers and faculty recruitment events
Requirements
- Two-year diploma in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Tourism, or Event Management
- Minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Docs
- Knowledge of MS Teams and various video conferencing platforms
- Commitment to enhancing awareness and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
- Experience in budget development, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Thorough knowledge of the University environment, policies, and protocols
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and sound judgment in a professional setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
