About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide proactive and positive support to clients, guests, caterers, and service providers
- Organize and set up for events, classes, and functions at the UBC Botanical Garden
- Perform opening procedures and troubleshoot basic facility or event requirements
- Act as a liaison between the venue and clients to ensure event specifications are met
- Manage facility security by handling issued keys and performing lock-up procedures after events
- Enforce venue policies and event contracts in a professional, non-confrontational manner
- Perform post-event maintenance, including organizing assets like chairs and tables
- Drive the visitor cart for scheduled events
Requirements
- High School graduation
- One year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Availability to work evenings and weekends (varied hours between 9am and midnight)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Previous experience in hotel or event services
- Ability to resolve client complaints calmly and exercise sound judgment under pressure
