Evening Service Worker

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive cleaning services for offices, classrooms, labs, and common areas at the Vancouver Point Grey Campus
• Perform floor care including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping, waxing, and polishing surfaces
• Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring all tools are in good operating condition
• Replenish essential materials such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels in designated areas
• Manage waste collection by emptying receptacles and depositing waste in appropriate containers
• Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as cleaning light fixtures or unplugging toilets, and report necessary repairs
• Assist with building security by reporting unusual circumstances and supporting emergency evacuations if directed
• Set up furniture and equipment for University functions, exams, and ceremonies

Requirements

• Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including those in conflict with one’s own
• Demonstrated commitment to enhancing awareness and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
• Ability to operate standard custodial equipment

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent
• 1 year of relevant experience in custodial services
• Building Service Worker certification
• General knowledge of custodial rules, regulations, and safety policies
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
