About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive cleaning services for offices, classrooms, labs, and common areas at the Vancouver Point Grey Campus.
  • Perform floor care tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping, waxing, and polishing.
  • Clean windows, glass surfaces, blinds, and fixtures.
  • Replenish essential supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.
  • Collect garbage and waste, ensuring proper disposal in designated containers.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and request necessary supplies as needed.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as cleaning light fixtures or unplugging toilets, and report repairs.
  • Assist with building security and emergency evacuations as directed.
  • Set up furniture and equipment for University functions and events.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 10.
  • At least 1 year of relevant custodial or cleaning experience.
  • Ability to operate standard custodial equipment, including light or heavy-duty power tools.
  • Knowledge of safety policies, security procedures, and custodial regulations.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Building Service Worker certification.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with peers and supervisors.
