About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead complex evaluations regarding the development effectiveness of IDB Invest programs, private-sector development operations, and corporate issues.
- Support the IDB Invest self-evaluation system by reviewing and validating management self-assessments of operations and credit lines.
- Establish constructive, transparent dialogue with IDB Invest and IDB management throughout the evaluation cycle to foster accountability and learning.
- Contribute to organizational outreach by engaging with staff, clients, partner institutions, and academic researchers to share knowledge and build evaluation capacity.
- Provide technical and methodological advice, mentor junior staff and consultants, and contribute to the development of new evaluation products.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in economics, finance, business, or a related field.
- 6 to 15 years of relevant experience in economic development and non-sovereign financial investments (including debt finance, private equity, or guarantees).
- Proven expertise in quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods, such as econometric analysis, portfolio analysis, and theories of change.
- Proficiency in English and at least one other official Bank language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese).
- Citizenship in one of the 48 IDB member countries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working at IDB Invest or within the private-sector arms of other Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs).
- Demonstrated knowledge of the development challenges specific to Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Familiarity with applying artificial intelligence tools, such as text analytics and machine learning, to evaluative work.
- Strong publication record in flagship reports, evaluation reports, or peer-reviewed journals.
