EV Vehicle Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive diagnostics and troubleshooting of EV powertrains, battery packs, motor controllers, and high-voltage systems using OEM-specific software.
• Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs, including battery health assessments and cooling system checks.
• Safely handle high-voltage components in strict compliance with safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Interpret technical service bulletins, repair manuals, and electrical schematics to resolve complex issues.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to report recurring issues and support field testing of new EV models.
• Maintain detailed digital service records to ensure accuracy and compliance with warranty requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or equivalent certification in Automotive Technology, Electrical Systems, or a related field.
• Proven experience in automotive repair with a specialization in electric or hybrid vehicle systems.
• Proficiency with high-voltage safety protocols and diagnostic tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
• Strong understanding of Battery Management Systems (BMS), regenerative braking, and electric motors.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional EV-specific certifications such as ASE EV or manufacturer-specific training.
• Experience with specific OEM diagnostic tools like Techstream or IDS.
