About the role
Responsibilities
- Support the China-WBG Global Center for Ecological Systems and Transitions (CWGC) through analytical studies and knowledge generation.
- Lead studies on China's ecological governance, including nature finance, large-scale restoration, and biodiversity conservation.
- Develop high-quality knowledge products such as technical reports, policy briefs, and case studies in both English and Chinese.
- Assist in Center management, including monitoring the annual work program and managing the results framework.
- Plan and facilitate workshops, policy dialogues, and international conferences.
- Coordinate South-South cooperation activities, including study tours and joint research initiatives.
- Maintain and expand networks with government ministries, research institutions, and international development partners.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Natural Resources Management, Environmental Science, Ecology, Forestry, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in natural resources management, biodiversity conservation, or ecological restoration.
- Demonstrated expertise in China's ecological governance and environmental policy frameworks.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality knowledge products for international development audiences.
- Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder programs and events.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the Kunming-Montreal GBF, Paris Agreement, SDGs, and the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.
- Experience working with the World Bank or other multilateral development banks.
- Expertise in green finance, natural capital accounting, or ecosystem services valuation.
- Experience with South-South cooperation programs involving China.
