About the role
Responsibilities
- Review and understand project specifications and drawings
- Produce accurate take-offs and pricing for Heavy Highway / Heavy Civil components
- Complete cost estimates for projects ranging from $10M to $100M
- Solicit quotations from subcontractors and vendors
- Analyze self-perform activities versus subcontracted work
- Prepare and assist in creating construction schedules and equipment utilization schedules
- Update databases with labor rates, vendor values, and equipment rates
- Mentor younger estimators and manage a small group of assisting estimators
- Identify project risks and opportunities
- Coordinate quantity and cost comparisons with Joint Venture Partners
Requirements
- 4-year Engineering Degree or equivalent
- Previous estimating experience
- Technical training and/or related experience
- Advanced math and computer skills
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in Heavy Highway / Heavy Civil projects
- Design Build or P3 experience
- Proficiency with HCSS Heavy Bid, Bluebeam, Smart Bid, CADD, Viewpoint Vista, and P6
- Experience supervising others
