About the role
Responsibilities
- Prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives and serve the specific needs of English language learners.
- Teach and assess students at beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels of English proficiency through co-teaching.
- Differentiate instruction and assessment based on linguistic proficiency levels.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records.
- Communicate student progress to families via reports, conferences, and engagement sessions.
- Design and implement assessments to measure progress and refine instructional practices.
- Maintain a positive learning environment and establish professional relationships with co-teaching colleagues.
- Participate in professional learning and assist with administrative tasks for the K-12 ESOL program.
Requirements
- CT State Certification (or certifiability) in ESOL PreK-12 (#011), Emergency Teacher of ELL (#024), or a comparable certification.
- Oral and written fluency in English.
- Experience working with adolescents.
- Proven skills in lesson planning and student assessment.
- Experience with co-teaching models.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
