ESOL Instructor

Responsibilities

• Teach ESOL classes focusing on speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills
• Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to second language acquisition, considering students' literacy levels and potential trauma
• Incorporate health, wellness, civic, and cultural adjustment information into the curriculum
• Maintain accurate attendance records and conduct outreach to students with significant absences
• Integrate and manage college student service-learners and community volunteers in classroom instruction
• Assist with student evaluation measures, including pre/post testing and self-evaluations
• Collaborate with the Program Manager on ongoing curriculum development and program evaluation
• Maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality in accordance with agency and state policies

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or certification in TESOL, TEFL, Adult Ed., Reading, or a related field
• Experience teaching English language learners
• Ability to teach basic technology and adapt to a Zoom environment if necessary
• Ability to manage and integrate volunteers and service-learners into the classroom
• Strong ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse cultures and varying English proficiency levels

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree
• Experience working with English language learners and the agencies that serve them
• Experience teaching advanced-level ESOL courses
