About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide in-class support and small group instruction to ESL students
- Support content teachers with sheltered instruction strategies
- Attend and participate in IEP meetings for English Learners
- Follow ESSA guidelines for ESL identification, instruction, and assessment
- Implement curricula aligned to WIDA English language development standards
- Administer WIDA assessments to determine ESL eligibility
- Create a positive, structured learning environment following school core values
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
Requirements
- Valid NJ English as a Second Language State Certification
- Bachelor's degree (required) or Master's degree (preferred)
- Minimum of two years teaching experience in urban public or charter school setting preferred
- Specific GPA requirements for New Jersey candidates based on graduation date
