ESL Teacher

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class support and small group instruction to ESL students
• Support content teachers with sheltered instruction strategies
• Attend and participate in IEP meetings for English Learners
• Follow ESSA guidelines for ESL identification, instruction, and assessment
• Implement curricula aligned to WIDA English language development standards
• Administer WIDA assessments to determine ESL eligibility
• Create a positive, structured learning environment following school core values
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues

Requirements

• Valid NJ English as a Second Language State Certification
• Bachelor's degree (required) or Master's degree (preferred)
• Minimum of two years teaching experience in urban public or charter school setting preferred
• Specific GPA requirements for New Jersey candidates based on graduation date
• Alignment with Uncommon Schools' educational philosophy
