About the role
Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and qualify advanced laboratory instruments and automation systems.
- Lead root cause investigations for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and calibrations in accordance with service policies.
- Maintain accurate service records following Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and regulatory requirements (OSHA, FDA, ISO, CLIA).
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and on-the-job training to junior technicians and metrology associates.
- Author and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment service and maintenance.
- Coordinate day-to-day department workflows and manage service schedules to meet customer requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, Manufacturing, and Lab Operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Electronics, or a related field (or equivalent experience as specified in the job description).
- 3+ years of relevant experience in equipment service or technical support.
- Experience mentoring junior staff and providing technical leadership.
- Proficiency with electrical circuits and diagrams, including the use of multi-meters and analyzers.
- Experience interpreting mechanical parts and assembly drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and perform on-call or overtime work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience with Quality Systems and regulatory compliance (FDA, ISO, etc.).
- Experience operating and troubleshooting complex laboratory equipment such as liquid handling robots or centrifuges.
- Experience with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) or Digital Pathology Imaging.
- Experience working in a Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) environment.
- Knowledge of control systems, robotics, and custom automation.
