Equipment Operator Heavy

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery including cranes, bulldozers, loaders, motor graders, and scrapers to perform excavation and material movement
• Ensure all work complies with government regulations and building codes
• Maintain required readings, records, and documentation for pavement and grounds operations
• Research road surface requirements and calculate material needs for road preservation
• Plan and lay out work using blueprints, drawings, models, or schematics
• Perform emergency repairs and routine maintenance such as greasing equipment
• Maintain quality control standards and ensure safe work practices are followed by work groups

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid Nevada Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Ability to pass a practical skills test on equipment such as backhoes, bulldozers, and loaders
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
• Fluent in English (written and verbal)
• Ability to work in outdoor environments with exposure to extreme climatic conditions
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including climbing and stooping

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience as a heavy equipment operator through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training
