Equipment Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and locate mechanical problems on fleet vehicles and equipment
• Repair brakes, engines, electrical, fuel, hydraulic, transmission, and exhaust systems
• Perform routine preventative maintenance, lubrication, and minor adjustments
• Inspect vehicles and equipment for compliance with safety rules and roadworthiness
• Perform cutting and welding for body repair and related work
• Maintain parts, spares, and maintenance inventory as needed
• Participate in after-hours emergency calls and snow/ice control programs

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement
• HAZWOPER Level I and II certification
• Ability to provide own hand tools (wrenches, socket sets, drivers, etc.)
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
• Ability to work in various positions, including on ladders and in confined spaces

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance or Fleet Management
• Experience repairing pickup trucks, dump trucks, snowplows, and salt spreaders
• Ability to obtain ASE certification in Master Automotive or Heavy Duty Truck Technician within three years
