About the role
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in vehicles, construction equipment, and small engines
- Overhaul, repair, and rebuild motors and other equipment parts
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations
- Inspect equipment and vehicles to ensure maximum performance and safety
- Estimate time, parts, and tools required for repairs and maintain service records
- Operate heavy equipment to transport malfunctioning units for repair
- Perform minor welding repairs on vehicles and equipment
- Utilize vehicle maintenance software and electronic tools for documentation
Requirements
- Two-year technical certificate in automotive or diesel mechanics (or five years of additional full-time experience in lieu of education)
- Two years of full-time experience as an automotive or diesel mechanic
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to obtain a valid State of Iowa Class B with Airbrakes CDL within 90 days of appointment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform frequent physical tasks including climbing, kneeling, and reaching
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of hydraulic, lawn and garden, and small tool repair
- Ability to obtain A Series and T Series ASE Certifications
- Experience with welding and auto body repair
- Knowledge of vehicle air conditioning systems
- Possession of a State of Iowa Class A Commercial Driver's License
