Equipment Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in vehicles, construction equipment, and small engines
• Overhaul, repair, and rebuild motors and other equipment parts
• Perform routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations
• Inspect equipment and vehicles to ensure maximum performance and safety
• Estimate time, parts, and tools required for repairs and maintain service records
• Operate heavy equipment to transport malfunctioning units for repair
• Perform minor welding repairs on vehicles and equipment
• Utilize vehicle maintenance software and electronic tools for documentation

Requirements

• Two-year technical certificate in automotive or diesel mechanics (or five years of additional full-time experience in lieu of education)
• Two years of full-time experience as an automotive or diesel mechanic
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Ability to obtain a valid State of Iowa Class B with Airbrakes CDL within 90 days of appointment
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform frequent physical tasks including climbing, kneeling, and reaching

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of hydraulic, lawn and garden, and small tool repair
• Ability to obtain A Series and T Series ASE Certifications
• Experience with welding and auto body repair
• Knowledge of vehicle air conditioning systems
• Possession of a State of Iowa Class A Commercial Driver's License
