Equipment Associate

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for automation instrument coordination and communication
• Coordinate with vendors for repair and maintenance of lab instruments like sequencers and freezers
• Generate and update AutoCAD drawings for instrument placement and lab space planning
• Coordinate instrument installations and qualifications per equipment protocols
• Work with Quality Assurance to determine IQ/OQ/PQ, calibration, and preventive maintenance requirements
• Maintain a program for routine maintenance and calibration to ensure equipment is fit for purpose
• Prepare equipment SOPs and comply with Quality Management System policies
• Track all service activities and ensure documentation follows Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
• Order supplies from internal and external sources as needed

Requirements

• AA/AS or BS/BA in biomedical engineering or related fields
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
• Ability to lift 40lbs and perform physical tasks like squatting and bending

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry-related experience supporting lab equipment
• Experience in laboratory automation or operating high-throughput instruments
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Familiarity with IQ/OQ/PQ of instruments
• Experience working in BSLI and BSLII laboratories
• Knowledge of DNA isolation, PCR, cell culture, and next-generation sequencing
• Familiarity with LIMS
