Environmental Sustainability Specialist

Responsibilities

• Align site operations with DOE Orders, Federal Sustainability Plans, and executive orders on climate resilience
• Monitor and report greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories utilizing federal carbon accounting frameworks
• Collaborate with facility engineers on microgrid, renewable energy, and smart-meter implementation projects
• Manage compliance for hazardous and non-hazardous waste diversion
• Design and execute water-use efficiency programs for complex facility infrastructure
• Aggregate facility utility and emission data for mandatory annual reporting and sustainability dashboards

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related technical field
• 3-5+ years managing sustainability or environmental compliance programs
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE 'L' or 'Q' security clearance
• Advanced proficiency in Greenhouse Gas Protocol guidelines and federal data management systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification
• LEED AP certification
• Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) training
• Direct familiarity with DOE Order 436.1
