Environmental, Sustainability & Energy Engineer

Responsibilities

• Drive the regional Energy Roadmap, including renewable energy sourcing and fuel switching, to meet long-term sustainability targets.
• Identify and implement energy efficiency opportunities across all Nemak Mexico plants to optimize global energy usage.
• Establish and track KPIs to evaluate energy consumption trends and drive continuous improvement.
• Develop strategies to minimize carbon emissions (Scope 1 & 2) in support of net-zero decarbonization goals.
• Evaluate emerging energy technologies and innovative solutions to reduce the company's environmental footprint and costs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop energy budgets and conduct financial analyses for sustainability CAPEX projects.
• Manage utility data management systems and prepare regular progress reports for executive leadership.
• Contribute to the standardization of ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and ASI management systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.
• 3–4 years of experience in Energy Management or Energy Efficiency Technologies (experience in aluminum or foundry industries preferred).
• Expert certification in ISO 14001 and ISO 50001.
• Proven experience as an ISO Lead Auditor and expertise in legal compliance.
• Deep knowledge of Mexican Environmental Regulations at both Federal and State levels.
• Technical expertise in air emissions, hazardous substances, risk management, water, and waste.
• Advanced proficiency in English (both oral and written).
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and change management skills.
