Environmental Specialist

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of OSHA regulations and company health and safety practices
• Prepare chemical and biological waste for shipment and disposal
• Manage federal and state waste documentation and paperwork
• Handle hazardous waste containers and load/unload waste from vehicles
• Conduct safety equipment and hazardous waste inspections
• Perform and document Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) audits
• Provide exceptional customer service and innovative solutions to clients
• Ensure compliance with RCRA, DOT, and OSHA regulations
• Conduct spill response measures, assessment, and cleanup
• Participate in rotating on-call emergency response shifts (optional)

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in hazardous waste industry or military experience
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to analyze complex issues and implement solutions
• Ability to work overtime and flexible hours (Monday through Friday)
• Willingness to complete a 2 to 3 year professional advancement program
• Ability to wear and manage personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Ability to report to Cranston, RI within 1 hour during emergency shifts
• Valid US driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to lift 60 pounds regularly
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen (including THC), and physical
• Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior relevant industry experience
• Prior customer service experience
• Active HAZWOPER 24 or 40 hour certification
• Willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
