Environmental Specialist

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, review, and management of environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Support daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly inspections related to waste, water, and air compliance.
• Coordinate the shipment of hazardous waste and materials in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Participate in environmental audits, regulatory inspections, and incident investigations.
• Provide education and guidance to employees on environmental policies and best practices.
• Support data collection, entry, and recordkeeping for regulatory compliance and environmental initiatives.
• Perform occasional weekend air monitoring and provide off-shift/on-call availability as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, safety, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of environmental experience preferred.
• Knowledge of 40 CFR, 29 CFR, and 49 CFR regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and walk extended distances or climb ladders.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection.

Preferred Qualifications

• Environmental or safety certifications.
• Experience preparing or supporting regulatory environmental reports.
• Familiarity with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
