Environmental Specialist 2

Responsibilities

• Assist division staff with reviewing, preparing, processing, and recommending actions on permit applications, closure plans, and RCRA corrective action documents
• Attend public hearings to answer questions and receive comments
• Provide technical assistance to consultants, government officials, industry, and citizens regarding hazardous waste regulations and pollution prevention
• Perform site searches on the RCRAInfo national hazardous waste information management system
• Assign U.S. EPA ID numbers and maintain handler ID, permitting, and closure modules in RCRAInfo
• Participate in developing and implementing data quality processes and audit procedures

Requirements

• Minimum 12 months of experience as an Environmental Specialist 1
• OR 4 years of relevant education/experience in physical or health science fields (engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, geology, hydrogeology, or mathematics)
• OR a baccalaureate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, earth science, urban/regional planning, or geology
• Experience must include conducting compliance monitoring, inspections, or reviewing permit applications
