Environmental Scientist/Field Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform environmental monitoring, groundwater sampling, and soil sampling during drilling and excavation activities
• Execute field operations with a focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance with procedures
• Operate various field monitoring equipment including GPS, data loggers, survey levels, and combustible gas meters
• Supervise drillers and other contractors on-site
• Complete field documentation such as job safety analysis (JSA) forms, project field reports, and chain-of-custody forms
• Research and compile background data to support environmental projects
• Review and analyze data collected during environmental sampling programs
• Travel to field sites approximately 90% of the time, including overnight stays and weekend work

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Science, Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Geological Engineering
• Valid Class 5 driver's license
• Ability to perform physical exertion, including standing for long periods, walking over rough terrain, and lifting
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and snow
• Willingness to travel extensively (90% of the time) throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and NWT
• Strong written and oral communication skills with high attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of relevant environmental field experience
• Experience working on downstream oil and gas sites
