About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance to project teams to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and industry best practices.
- Establish, maintain, and disseminate the ISO 14001 accredited Environmental Management System (EMS) on large-scale projects.
- Line manage, mentor, and lead a team of Environmental Advisors and Technicians.
- Develop and maintain the Impacts and Aspects Register and the legal register.
- Oversee the delivery of the Environmental Monitoring Plan and manage the inspection and audit programme.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and regulators (such as the Environment Agency or SEPA) to obtain necessary consents and permits.
- Coordinate responses to significant environmental incidents and ensure emergency preparedness plans are followed.
- Support the subdivision Sustainability Team by collecting data and promoting improved ways of working.
Requirements
- Proven Environmental Management experience, preferably within a main contractor context.
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of UK environmental management regulatory requirements.
- Valid CSCS Card (relevant type).
- Full UK driver’s licence.
- Geographical mobility to deploy at projects across the UK and Ireland for extended periods.
- Demonstrable leadership and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Full membership of a relevant professional institution (Chartered status or progress towards it).
- Significant experience in the Nuclear, Energy, Water, Linear Infrastructure, or Tunnelling sectors.
