About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee environmental compliance during the construction phase of transmission and distribution projects.
- Conduct field inspections, environmental monitoring, and field survey work.
- Prepare and deliver environmental training for construction personnel.
- Verify that authorized construction limits, access roads, and exclusion zones are properly marked and flagged.
- Act as a point of contact for agency officials, regulatory staff, landowners, and contractors.
- Document compliance through daily written inspection reports including photo documentation.
- Identify and oversee corrective actions for non-compliance and manage erosion/sediment control needs.
- Perform environmental sampling, such as soil and hydrostatic test water.
- Evaluate restoration activities and conduct compaction testing as required.
Requirements
- 2+ years of environmental inspection, monitoring, or permitting experience, specifically with linear or energy infrastructure projects.
- Mandatory experience with Electric Transmission projects and BLM lands.
- BS or BA degree preferred, or equivalent experience (minimum of 6 years relevant construction experience).
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle in remote locations.
- Ability to travel extensively and work 60-72 hours per week in a physically demanding field role.
- Physical ability to hike up to 10 hours a day on uneven or steep terrain and work in all weather conditions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital photography.
- Working knowledge of GPS technologies, map interpretation, and applications like Field Maps or Survey123.
