Environmental Health & Safety Technician

Responsibilities

• Maintain a strong presence with mining operations and engineering staff to foster a robust safety culture
• Perform site safety walks and job hazard assessments to identify concerns and develop SOPs
• Support the Lockout/Tagout program through labeling, training verification, and lock distribution
• Coordinate the delivery and stocking of safety supplies including PPE, first aid kits, and spill kits
• Develop and install safety signage such as emergency evacuation maps and safety one-pagers
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly site safety walks and input data into the EHS database
• Collect environmental field data, including water and soil sampling, to support compliance programs
• Organize and maintain safety documentation, training records, and incident reports
• Review and upload chemical Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) to the electronic library

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 3 years of work experience in mining, construction, manufacturing, or environmental sectors
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand and/or walk for 10+ hours daily and climb stairs

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• Basic understanding of construction safety
• Ability to become First Aid and CPR certified
• Experience as a self-starter capable of leading without direct supervision
• Availability for weekend work as needed
