Environmental Health & Safety Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform boots on the ground safety oversight by identifying and correcting workplace hazards
• Monitor employee exposure to job and chemical hazards per OSHA limits
• Assist in the implementation of site-specific safety policies and PPE assessments
• Perform department specific safety surveys and inspections
• Manage hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal per RCRA requirements
• Maintain hazardous waste drum logs, sign-in sheets, and VOC solvent usage logs
• Perform weekly storm water inspections and spill response/prevention tasks
• Implement spill prevention countermeasures and control plans (SPCC)

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 2+ years of experience in environmental, health, and safety programs
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs unassisted
• Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee to comply with ITAR

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing hazardous waste satellite accumulation areas
• Experience with emergency response crews for hazardous material releases
• Previous experience in a construction or industrial environment
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
