Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

Responsibilities

• Implement prevention-focused health, safety, and environmental (HSE) and security programs
• Complete new hire orientation training programs as assigned
• Maintain safety program records, including training logs, reports, and inspections
• Inspect facilities to detect existing or potentially unsafe conditions
• Participate in investigations regarding vehicle accidents and workplace injuries
• Assist with root cause identification and help develop corrective actions
• Conduct observations and coaching of high-risk associates to ensure proper work methods
• Monitor equipment inspections to detect potential failures and recommend preventative measures
• Support site management in the execution of HSE plans and emergency preparedness procedures
• Interface with regulatory bodies such as OSHA, DOT, and EPA in the safety director's absence

Requirements

• Associate’s degree and/or a minimum of 2 years of safety experience
• 2+ years of direct hands-on safety experience in warehousing, manufacturing, or transportation
• OSHA certifications or progress toward recognized safety professional certification
• Valid Driver’s License
• Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and employees
