Environmental Health & Safety Specialist (EHSS)

Responsibilities

• Lead and drive EHSS initiatives to reduce risk and foster a safety-conscious culture at the manufacturing plant.
• Act as the site subject matter expert for environmental, health, and safety requirements.
• Analyze leading and lagging indicators (TTIR, LTIR, Near Misses) to provide proactive, risk-based recommendations.
• Conduct objective accident investigations and coordinate corrective actions for all incidents and near misses.
• Verify compliance with company and governmental regulations through inspections, risk assessments, and site audits.
• Support plant leadership by implementing safety requirements and managing EHSS administrative and reporting tasks.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in a site EHSS role within a manufacturing environment.
• Associate degree in Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Strong knowledge of federal EHS, OSHA, and EPA regulations (including SWPPP, EPCRA, and EPA Tier II).
• Proven experience with accident investigations and analyzing injury trends.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment (standing, walking, bending).
• Proficiency in writing reports, work instructions, and business correspondence.

Preferred Qualifications

• ASP/CSP certification.
• Experience with industrial hygiene and conservation programs.
