About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary site owner for environmental compliance programs, including RCRA hazardous waste, air emissions, stormwater, and industrial wastewater
- Manage and maintain federal, state, and local environmental permits, including applications, renewals, and ongoing compliance obligations
- Act as the primary point of contact for environmental regulatory agencies, coordinating inspections, site visits, and information requests
- Lead environmental aspects of internal, external, and regulatory audits, including ISO 14001 and RBA
- Oversee hazardous and universal waste programs, including waste stream determination and vendor coordination
- Participate in the site Incident Response rotation, serving in assigned Incident Command System (ICS) roles as needed
- Provide technical oversight and mentoring to Environmental Technicians and other assigned staff
- Review and approve chemical use, storage, and procurement requests to ensure regulatory compliance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, EHS, or a related field
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or equivalent recognized environmental compliance certification
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in environmental compliance or EHS within manufacturing, laboratory, or regulated industrial environments
- Demonstrated experience managing RCRA hazardous waste programs and interacting with regulatory agencies
- Working knowledge of air permitting, wastewater, and stormwater compliance programs
- Proven ability to manage audits, regulatory inspections, and corrective actions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting ISO 14001, RBA, and third-party environmental audits or verification programs
- Experience with sustainability data, environmental metrics, and external reporting support
- Experience providing technical leadership or oversight of contractors or site-based environmental staff
