Environmental Health & Safety Consultant

Responsibilities

• Measure occupational and environmental hazards using calibrated scientific equipment
• Measure the effectiveness of engineered control systems such as fume hoods
• Participate in the inspection and examination of machinery and equipment
• Conduct workplace safety inspections and evaluate personal protective equipment use
• Identify potential accident and health hazards and help implement control measures
• Investigate accidents and injuries to identify causes and recommend remedial action
• Communicate with client personnel regarding workplace safety issues
• Conduct routine EHS safety trainings including new employee orientation and hazard communication
• Write accident reports and maintain OSHA recordkeeping forms
• Assist in developing occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and manuals

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in an Environmental Health & Safety capacity
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety, or a related scientific field (biology, chemistry, or engineering)
• Completion of two or more industry-recognized training courses (OSHA 10/30, ABSA, HAZWOPER, or DOT/IATA HAZMAT)
• Excellent communication and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working as a professional advisor or consultant to third-party clients
• Active membership in a national professional safety organization
• Working towards a professional designation or certification (CSP, CHMM, CIH, etc.)
