Environmental Health and Safety Advisor

Responsibilities

• Support the continual development of the EHS culture with Branch Managers and employees
• Advise and collaborate with Branch Managers on strategic EHS initiatives, programs, and tools
• Perform regular inspections of workplaces, work practices, and environmental controls
• Conduct occupational risk analysis and propose preventive measures
• Respond to after-hours incidents, emergencies, and regulatory complaints
• Conduct incident investigations using root cause analysis
• Audit the effectiveness of EHS preventive measures
• Collaborate with regulatory bodies such as MOL, MECP, and Fire Dept.
• Plan and perform internal training sessions and monitor mandatory EHS training completion
• Track and report on EHS metrics and key indicators
• Assist with new hire orientation and onboarding activities
• Advise site Health and Safety Committees

Requirements

• 2-5 years of health and safety experience in production, recycling, or retail operations
• Diploma or degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field
• Valid class G driver's license
• Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ontario Fire Code
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Ability to travel across Ontario approximately 50% of the time
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
