About the role
Responsibilities
- Support the continual development of the EHS culture with Branch Managers and employees
- Advise and collaborate with Branch Managers on strategic EHS initiatives, programs, and tools
- Perform regular inspections of workplaces, work practices, and environmental controls
- Conduct occupational risk analysis and propose preventive measures
- Respond to after-hours incidents, emergencies, and regulatory complaints
- Conduct incident investigations using root cause analysis
- Audit the effectiveness of EHS preventive measures
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies such as MOL, MECP, and Fire Dept.
- Plan and perform internal training sessions and monitor mandatory EHS training completion
- Track and report on EHS metrics and key indicators
- Assist with new hire orientation and onboarding activities
- Advise site Health and Safety Committees
Requirements
- 2-5 years of health and safety experience in production, recycling, or retail operations
- Diploma or degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field
- Valid class G driver's license
- Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ontario Fire Code
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Ability to travel across Ontario approximately 50% of the time
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
