Environmental Field Specialist I

Responsibilities

• Act as a waste management coordinator and technician for customer-site work, ensuring all activities comply with RCRA, DOT, and EPA regulations.
• Prepare and verify the accuracy of all paperwork associated with the shipping of hazardous waste.
• Perform waste sampling, site inspections, and audits to ensure safety and compliance.
• Coordinate waste pickups by managing schedules with transporters, customers, and Treatment Storage Disposal Facilities (TSDF).
• Manage waste profiles, including submitting samples to TSDF and resolving any processing issues.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instruments and perform basic corrective maintenance.
• Load and unload company trucks and common carriers using a forklift and other required equipment.
• Maintain inventory of waste materials at customer locations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• General college science background in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or comparable work experience.
• In-depth knowledge of RCRA, DOT, and EPA regulations acquired through documented hands-on experience.
• Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically intermediate-level Excel skills.
• Ability to operate an industrial powered lift truck or forklift.
• Ability to use and maintain respiratory protection equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• CDL License (if required by specific site needs).
• Experience with UVX or AS400 systems.
• Ability to use Microsoft Access for database management and reporting.
