About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for environmental compliance programs related to NPDES Construction Stormwater and SPCC regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with ADEM’s Construction Stormwater Permit by reviewing project scopes and writing Construction Best Management Practices Plans (CBMPPs).
  • Prepare Notices of Intent (NOI) to obtain permit coverage and perform construction stormwater inspections.
  • Develop, implement, and update facility-specific SPCC Plans and conduct periodic site inspections.
  • Provide regulatory guidance and build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM).
  • Support additional water compliance programs as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, or Chemical) or a science-related field (Biology, Chemistry, or Environmental Science).
  • Understanding of Construction Stormwater regulations and/or other environmental water permitting.
  • Familiarity with SPCC regulations, including plan development and implementation.
  • Knowledge of GIS for developing project-specific maps and figures.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, including organizing, planning, and tracking multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Alabama or the ability to obtain licensure.
  • Qualified Credentialed Individual/Professional (QCI or QCP) certification.
  • Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) certification.
