About the role

Responsibilities

  • Teach department-developed curriculum for Weatherization and Building Performance or Solar PV Design and Installation
  • Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning and safety within a correctional facility
  • Prepare and provide syllabi in accordance with department and divisional policies
  • Employ appropriate teaching strategies and modern instructional technology to meet diverse student needs
  • Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit final grade rosters by established deadlines
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of student information

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, OR commensurate industry certifications, OR an Associate's degree with five years of relevant work/teaching experience
  • Ability to teach face-to-face in a prison education setting at Madison Correctional Institution
  • Ability to pass a DRC background check
  • Proficiency in using modern educational technology and multimedia-based instruction
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work within a culturally diverse community
  • Must reside in or be able to perform work within Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior teaching experience
