About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on electrical equipment including motors, control and power circuits (A.C. and D.C.), switches, generators, transformers, and relays.
  • Utilize electrical test equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, multi-meters, meggers, and tachometers to ensure system integrity.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to determine circuitry and guide repair work.
  • Supervise and direct the work of lower-grade employees on electrical repair and installation projects in accordance with the Electrical Code of the City of New York.
  • Remain available for emergency calls during nights and days off and accept a proportional share of scheduled overtime.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, equivalent, or electrical trade school diploma.
  • 6 years of experience in the electrical field.
  • 2 years of experience as an "A" mechanic.
  • 1 year of experience working with electro-magnetic controllers.
  • Proficiency with various electrical test equipment and tools of the trade.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
