About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on electrical equipment including motors, control and power circuits (A.C. and D.C.), switches, generators, transformers, and relays.
- Utilize electrical test equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, multi-meters, meggers, and tachometers to ensure system integrity.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to determine circuitry and guide repair work.
- Supervise and direct the work of lower-grade employees on electrical repair and installation projects in accordance with the Electrical Code of the City of New York.
- Remain available for emergency calls during nights and days off and accept a proportional share of scheduled overtime.
Requirements
- High school diploma, equivalent, or electrical trade school diploma.
- 6 years of experience in the electrical field.
- 2 years of experience as an "A" mechanic.
- 1 year of experience working with electro-magnetic controllers.
- Proficiency with various electrical test equipment and tools of the trade.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
