Environmental Compliance Specialist

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance programs for assigned Electra locations to ensure compliance with EPA, DOT, and local regulations.
• Secure and renew environmental operating permits, including Air and Water permits.
• Complete required annual environmental reports (CAA, CWA, EPCRA, RCRA) and coordinate emissions testing or waste sampling.
• Develop and implement environmental policies and procedures tailored to chemical and heavy industrial environments.
• Lead environmental release or spill incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals across multiple sites.
• Design and deliver environmental compliance training programs for operators, technicians, and leadership.
• Monitor and report environmental performance metrics, incidents, and audit findings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of environmental experience in the mining, manufacturing, or chemical industry.
• Proven experience developing and implementing environmental programs in an industrial setting.
• Strong experience securing environmental operating permits (e.g., Stormwater, Wastewater Discharge, Title V).
• Deep knowledge of hazardous materials handling and pollution control.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
• Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM).
• Experience collaborating on Industrial Hygiene testing and results analysis.
• Familiarity with startup or scale-up industrial environments.
