Environmental Compliance Officer

Responsibilities

• Ensure construction activities comply with federal, provincial, and municipal environmental legislation and permits
• Track permit conditions and support project teams in implementing compliant work practices
• Oversee environmental monitoring programs including air quality, noise, vibration, and water management
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify environmental risks and non-conformances
• Manage erosion and sediment control, spill prevention, and dust suppression
• Communicate inspection findings and mitigation measures to project managers and stakeholders
• Support the preparation of environmental compliance reports and regulatory submissions
• Deliver environmental training and toolbox talks to project staff and contractors
• Assist in tracking project sustainability objectives and waste diversion performance

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
• CAN-CISEC certification (Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably in infrastructure construction
• In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting requirements
• Proficiency in environmental monitoring equipment and software

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale subway or heavy civil construction projects
• Proven track record of implementing environmental management systems
