Environmental Compliance Manager

Responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with all federal, state and local environmental regulations
• Integrate regulatory compliance management into business and operating systems through SOP development
• Review proposed environmental legislation to assess applicability to operations
• Provide environmental regulatory guidance and support for capital projects and company acquisitions
• Provide environmental monitoring and remediation project guidance, support and management
• Manage the environmental compliance team of three employees
• Develop waste minimization and cost-saving strategies
• Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance and reduce risk
• Monitor and coordinate spill reporting activities and maintain third party emergency response services
• Provide backup technical assistance in the event of a chemical release or exposure
• Improve environmental compliance awareness and training programs
• Provide corrective action alternatives for activities presenting potential for non-compliance or contamination

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years in an industrial or regulatory agency setting performing environmental compliance duties
• Minimum of 5 years of management experience
• Current RCRA and DOT HAZMAT certification
• Bachelor's degree required
• Ability to travel up to 25% to facilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the chemical industry
• Groundwater remediation experience
• Degree in engineering, chemistry, or environmental science
• Post graduate degree or continuing education in environmental laws and regulatory compliance
