About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide owner-side environmental compliance leadership to ensure alignment with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Establish and maintain a project-specific environmental compliance framework for construction management and contractor execution.
  • Maintain a strong field presence to validate that environmental controls and practices align with permit obligations.
  • Perform quality checks on contractor environmental inspections and documentation.
  • Coach construction management and contractor teams on environmental findings and emerging risks.
  • Identify and prioritize environmental risks, recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of project environmental plans.
  • Partner with client SMEs to ensure construction activities remain aligned with permit conditions.
  • Develop and communicate environmental performance metrics and key risks to leadership.
  • Participate in environmental incident and spill investigations, including root cause identification.
  • Coordinate with waste vendors to support compliant waste handling and disposal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of environmental experience, including significant work on large construction or capital projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as an owner-side leader, balancing field verification with programmatic oversight.
  • Strong working knowledge of stormwater, spill prevention, waste management, and air/dust controls.
  • Proven ability to influence contractor performance and drive accountability without direct line authority.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver concise, executive-level updates.
  • Experience conducting environmental audits and verifying corrective action closure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the life sciences or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Familiarity with environmental management system (EMS) concepts and continuous improvement practices.
