About the role
Responsibilities
- Ensure environmental compliance for large-scale transit and construction projects
- Identify, assess, and mitigate environmental risks for the company
- Develop, update, and implement environmental plans and specifications
- Conduct and supervise field inspections and monitoring for water, air, noise, vibration, and soil
- Identify and protect wetlands and environmentally sensitive areas
- Track and communicate environmental costs and project data at the project level
- Design and deliver environmental protection and awareness training for all staff
- Act as the lead technical advisor and liaison for environmental matters with clients and regulatory agencies
- Prepare required reports and participate in internal and external project audits
- Review requirements and prepare proposals and estimates for new contracts
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental compliance management for large-scale construction projects
- Knowledge of federal and Ontario environmental policies, procedures, and legislation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications
- Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) designation
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and specialized consultants
- Knowledge of soil and water contaminants
- Pipeline inspection experience
