Environment, Health and Safety Lead

Responsibilities

• Lead the SHE Management System by implementing, maintaining, and reviewing effectiveness and compliance across the site.
• Coach, train, and advise various departments including operations, engineering, quality, labs, and warehousing on SHE guidance.
• Own compliance and readiness by maintaining environmental permits/licenses and ensuring audit readiness for OSHA, EPA, and state agencies.
• Strengthen emergency preparedness by managing evacuation procedures, emergency response plans, and coordinating drills.
• Drive continuous improvement through incident data analysis, CAPA management, and leading SHE committee engagement.
• Liaise with the broader AZ/Alexion SHE network to share and implement best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in SHE, Environmental Science, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline (or 10+ years of relevant experience).
• 5+ years of proven experience leading site-level SHE programs in a regulated environment such as pharma, biotech, chemical, or advanced manufacturing.
• Strong technical knowledge of SHE management systems, risk assessment, incident investigation, and CAPA.
• Proven ability to translate complex regulations into practical site procedures and training.
• Experience planning and executing emergency preparedness drills and exercises.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or NEBOSH.
• Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards or equivalent frameworks.
• Experience supporting regulatory inspections and internal or third-party audits.
