Enterprise and Operational Risk Director

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing operational risk team to execute the enterprise risk management framework.
• Enhance and operate the enterprise risk management framework, including risk taxonomy, governance, and policies.
• Manage the risk appetite framework and associated metrics, supporting senior leadership in setting and reviewing appetite.
• Design and deliver high-quality enterprise-level risk heat maps, dashboards, and decision-focused reporting for the Board Risk Committee.
• Support risk owners in identifying risks and controls to reduce potential impact on the organization.
• Lead and maintain the risk identification and event management framework.
• Promote a strong risk culture and deliver training to improve organization-wide risk awareness.

Requirements

• 12–15+ years of relevant experience in enterprise and operational risk management.
• Strong background in financial services (experience with DFIs, banking, or investment management is preferred).
• Proven expertise in risk appetite design, calibration, and enterprise risk frameworks.
• Deep understanding of operational risk, including risk identification and event management.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex issues to senior stakeholders and the Board.
• High level of judgment, independence, and integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with emerging markets.
• Demonstrated commitment to development or social goals through previous professional or personal activity.
