Engineering Technician V - Optical Mechanical - Integrated Optics Modules

Responsibilities

• Assemble, disassemble, and test mechanical subassemblies, tooling, and fixtures using hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement devices
• Handle large high-value laser optics (up to 18" square, 50 lbs) using mechanical lifts or two-person lifting techniques
• Inspect and mount optics into mechanical hardware frames
• Work in a Class 100 cleanroom and low-level radiologically contaminated environment
• Use web-based data management systems to track work, record metrology data, and report problems
• Support shipping and receiving of optics and materials
• Follow operational, safety, and ESH&Q procedures

Requirements

• A.S. degree or equivalent experience in Optical or Mechanical technologies
• Experience with production technologies, including evaluating and testing processes
• Experience with precision measurement devices such as calipers and micrometers
• Experience with databases, data manipulation, and PC software
• Ability to work deliberately, carefully, and safely in a multi-disciplinary team
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and stairs, and stand or walk for extended periods
• U.S. citizenship required for DOE Q-level security clearance
• Flexibility to work overtime, shifts, weekends, and alternate schedules in a 24/7 operation
