About the role
Responsibilities
- Assemble, install, operate, and maintain equipment for transport and handling of Amplifier and Beam Transport Line Replaceable Units and beampath components
- Execute setup, recovery, inspection, and maintenance of equipment and systems with a primary focus on Amplifier Refurbishment
- Perform physical installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electromechanical equipment, machinery, and control systems in accordance with safety codes
- Train and qualify for beampath access and hoisting/rigging of Line Replaceable Units in support of NIF shot operations
- Perform mechanical inspections, corrective and preventive maintenance, and installation projects
- Operate and interpret readings from test and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot, install, and maintain electro-mechanical systems
- Work from detailed drawings, procedures, and instructions while delivering responsive, professional customer service to internal stakeholders
- Prepare and maintain standard logs, records, and reports on facility, utility, and equipment status and maintenance activities
- Perform all work in accordance with ES&H regulations and Integrated Safety, Security, and Property Management responsibilities
Requirements
- A.A. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in facilities installation, operations, maintenance, and repair
- Proficiency in the use of tools for installation, testing, and repair of facility and utility systems
- Experience with LOTO processes and safety codes
- Ability to work from detailed drawings and blueprints
- Excellent customer service and communication skills; ability to work independently or as a team member
- Medically qualified to wear respiratory and protective equipment
- Ability to work scheduled and emergency overtime, shift work, and weekends
- Ability to work in confined spaces and perform physical requirements including frequent twisting and pulling
- U.S. citizenship required; must meet eligibility requirements for DOE Q-level clearance
- Must pass pre-employment drug test and background investigation
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic computer skills
- Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical systems including AC/DC motors, sensors, pneumatics, and basic control circuits
- Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
