Engineering Technician

Responsibilities

• Manages public and private Construction Services, including administrative tasks, contracts, and work direction
• Applies engineering principles to prepare material estimates and project schedules
• Assists with public meetings, contract bidding, and award processes
• Manages construction for capital improvement programs and leads preconstruction meetings
• Verifies pay applications, prepares change orders, and acts as a liaison between the public and contractors
• Administers contracts for capital improvement, right of way, and development projects
• Coordinates warranty inspections and reviews daily inspection reports for consistency
• Conducts bid responsibility reviews and contractor evaluations
• Investigates resident and developer requests regarding infrastructure, traffic, and drainage
• Reviews surveying, design, drafting, and cost estimates for street, stormwater, and sewer projects
• Maintains required licenses and certifications and adheres to OSHA safety standards

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering or related discipline with 2+ years of experience, OR an associate’s degree with 4+ years of experience
• ADA certification
• LPA certification or ability to obtain within 2 years of hire
• Availability for evening and occasional weekend work
• Ability to interpret written, oral, and visual instructions
• Ability to apply management principles and exercise independent judgment

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP certification
• CPII certification
• Flood Plain Manager certification
• Sediment & Erosion Control or Stormwater certification
